Tax evading Gutka manufacturers deposit Rs 6 crore
New Delhi, Dec 7 (UNI) Three of the six gutka manufacturers raided recently for multicrore tax evasion have deposited Rs 6 crore, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
Minister of State for Finance S S Palanimanickam, in a written reply, said Ghaziabad-based Kurele Pan Product, charged with evading Rs 118 crore of tax, had voluntarily deposited Rs five crore towards their liability. One person in this case, which is under invesigation, had been arrested, he added.
He said Rs 50 lakh each had been deposited by city-based Sunrise Food Products and Bangalore-based S P Flavours. While Sunrise had been charged with evading tax to the tune of Rs 3.50 crore, the Bangalore company had allegedly evaded Rs 50 lakh they have voluntarily deposited, he added.
The remaining three evaders with amount of tax evasion are Kanpur-based Kurele Fragrances(Rs 38 crore), Jodhpur-based Shree Raj Pan Masala(Rs 50 lakh) and Delhi's K P Pouches (Rs 40,000), the Minister said, adding that action against such manufacturers found evading central excise duty would be taken after completion of investigations.
