New Delhi, Dec 6:Singapore Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew called on former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee at his residence this evening and discussed various issues, including globlisation and Indian ASEAN relations. Describing the former Prime Minister as a great friend of Singapore, Mr Lee said he had great respect for Mr Vajpayee and admired the manner in which he had taken his country forward during his regime, a press release said here.
Lauding Mr Lee, Mr Vajpayee said he had played a great role in promoting the bilateral friendship between the two countries.
The two leaders also discussed the future challenges facing the world during the half-an-hour meeting, which was also attended by senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha.
Senior Singapore Minister of state for Foreign Affairs Balaji Sadasivan and Minister of state for Trade and Industry S Iswaran accompanied Mr Lee to Mr Vajpayee's residence.
