SC to hear applications seeking prosecution of Modi
New
Delhi,
Dec
7:
The
Supreme
Court
will
hear
two
applications
seeking
prosecution
of
Gujarat
Chief
Minister
Narendra
Modi,
on
December
10,
for
his
recent
remarks
justifying
the
killing
of
Sohrabuddin
Sheikh
in
a
fake
police
encounter.
The two applications were filed today, in pending petitions filed by Rubabuddin Sheikh, brother of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and film lyricist Javed Akhtar, seeking CBI enquiry into the fake encounter.
The hearing was fixed by a bench, comprising Justices Tarun Chatterjee and Dalveer Bhandari, when counsel Dushyant Dave and Prashant Bhushan, appearing for the two petitioners, sought early hearing of the application.
Both the counsels submitted that Modi had already justified the killings and he should, therefore, be prosecuted.
