Rain paralyses normal life in TN capital
Chennai, Dec 7 (UNI) Normal life in Chennai was virtually paralysed following heavy rainfall and gusty winds for the third consecutive day today.
Several low lying areas especially in North Chennai were under knee-deep water as the city recorded four cm of rainfall during the last 24 hours.
Korattur, Ambattur, Villivakkam, Kolathur, Ennore and Manali in North Chennai and Velachery, Madipakkam, Vijayanagaram, Ram Nagar, Selaiyur, Keezhakattali in the South were still submerged with hundreds of people marooned.
The weather office said a new, feeble trough of low pressure lay over Southwest Bay off the Tamil Nadu coast and under its influence, many places in the state and Pondicherry were likely to receive rain or thundershowers during the next 48 hours.
