Madurai, Dec 7 (UNI) Marumalarchi DMK General Secretary Vaiko today said the people of Tamil Nadu will resort to an economic blockade against Kerala, if it continued to scuttle the rights of Tamil Nadu over the Mullaiperiyar dam.
Talking to reporters here, he said though no political party in Tamil Nadu would stage an economic blockade against Kerala, the people would do so.
Charging both the Centre and state government with betraying the people of Tamil Nadu by soft peddling on issues pertaining to the Cauvery, Mullaiperiyar and Palar, Mr Vaiko said the adamant attitude of Kerala government on Mullaiperiyar had caused Tamil Nadu a whopping loss of Rs 3,500 crore.
''While the Kerala government is not ready to give even a drop of water to Tamil Nadu, some contractors of that state were dumping biowastes in Tamil Nadu,'' he alleged.
On power crisis, he alleged that there were frequent power cuts in the state, but the minister concerned was saying that there were no power cuts.
