Pak outplay India, easy for holders England, Egypt

Chennai, Dec 7 (UNI) Pakistan blanked India 3-0 with Indian players Saurav Ghosal, Siddharth Suchde and Ritwik Bhattacharya coming up with an insipid display especially Ritwik, while defending champions England blanked Spain by a similar margin in the second round preliminary league mathces of the 21st ICL squash world team championships for men here today.

However, Saurav put up a good display in the second match against no 1 Pak player Ameer Atlas Khan drawing level on game score(2-2) before bowing out 11-10, (2-0), 11-6, 10-11 (1-3), 6-11,11-9 after Siddharth Sachdev went down to left hander Farhaan Mehboob 8-11, 11-10(2-0)11-5, 11-5. India's no2 Ritwick Bhattacharya put up a pathetic display against Mansoor Zaman, another south paw, who won 11-6,11-9,11-3 with Ritwick poor movements on the court.

Title favourites Egypt led by world no 1 Amr Shabana were also all set to top their pool with an effortless 3-0 win over Germany. Amr , was however, stretched to four games after he lost the second to Germany's Simon Rosner 10-11(0-2). Mohammed Abbas defeated Mortiz Dahmen 11-3, 11-4,11-5 while Wael Elhendy beat Tim Weber 11-7, 10-11(0-2), 11-4, 11-2 in the other matches.

The English challenge proved to be too strong for the Spaniards even without world no 5 James Willstrop not required to step into the court. Nick Mathew, a top 10 player defeated David Vidal Villamide 11-7, 11-7, 11-10, Peter Barker beat Artuo Santo Tomas 11-4, 11-4, 11-7 while Lee Beachill beat 11-4, 11-4, 11-10(3-1).
