One killed, three ration dealers committed suicide: Minister
Kolkata, Dec 7 (UNI) One person was killed in violence and three ration dealers committed suicides in the recent disturbances at various places of West Bengal, State Food Minister Paresh Adhikary said today.
Replying to a question in the Assembly, the Minister said 122 ration dealers had been suspended across the state for indulging in irregular activities and FIRs were lodged against 20 of them.
Mr Adhikary admitted that there were some loopholes in the food distribution system which were urgently looked into.
He informed that his department has reconstituted the monitoring committee and urged the Centre to increase the monthly allotment of food items.
