Naqvi defends Modi on his coments

Shimla, Dec 7 (UNI) BJP's national vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today defended the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his reported remarks and said that these were made in context of terrorism and not against any religion.

Addressing a press conference here, he said that terrorism has no religion and Mr Modi had only sought to expose the ugly face of terrorism.

On the contrary it was AICC president Sonia Gandhi who had tried to whip up communal passions by arousing the Muslim minority and he simply reacted to the provocation, he added.

When asked whether the Gujarat CM was on back foot after the Election Commission issued notice to him, Mr Naqvi said that there nothing like that.

The Election Commission was a constitutional authority and Mr Modi has full faith in it and would reply to the notice, he said.

Referring to Himachal, he said that anti-Congress wave was sweeping the state and the BJP was all set to return to power with a thumping majority.

He said the present Congress Government was a ''government of scams, bribes and corruption'' and involved in 55 major scams and cases of corruption, which was a record in itself.

The ministers were facing serious charges of corruption and entire system had been corrupted due to callous and indifferent of the Chief Minister who was himself in the dock over the issue of corruption, he alleged.

The BJP leader asked the government to explain as to why the Additional DGP B S Thind was reinstated and his suspension revoked when serious charges had been leveled against him.

He said that all such cases of corruption involving the high ups would be enquired into and the guilty would be booked by the BJP government.
