Hoshangabad (MP), Dec 7: More than 300 people are in the grip of fever at tribal-dominated Borkunda village in this district, however, no health department official has reached the village, official sources said.
A youth has died in the absence of medical treatment. Meanwhile, villagers were angry over the apathy of the health department.
District Panchayat member Chandragopal Malaiya was shocked to see the plight of villagers, when he visited the village yesterday.
Six people were suffering from fever since very long time and their condition was serious.
He assured to meet top officials and get the treatment facilities arranged. Janpad member Dhol Singh Irpache said some villagers who were going to a hospital in Sivnimalwa but were being sent back with two tablets despite having a BPL card.
Sivnimalwa Sub-Divisional Officer R K Vanshankar said a team of doctors would be dispatched to the village immediately.
