Ahmedabad, Dec 7 (UNI) Senior BJP Leader Arun Jaitley today rejected the Congress clarification that its president Sonia Gandhi's remarks, during her election campaign, were not aimed at Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi but she was referring to the ''state functionaries''.
''Ms Gandhi's remark was not against the Chief Secretary or Police Chief of the state'', he remarked, adding that the government officers were not contesting elections and she was addressing an election rally.
''Her rally was a political meeting and she was referring only to the political leader of the state (Narendra Modi)'', Ms Jaitley said.
Earlier in the day, Union Minister Kapil Sibal clarified that Party chief Sonia Gandhi's 'merchants of death' remark was not aimed at Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
''Mrs Gandhi took no names. She said nothing wrong. She said what the state government has already admitted in the Supreme Court, nothing more, nothing less,'' Mr Sibal said adding she was referring to 'state functionaries'.
