Inter-state 'Zeharkhurani' gang busted
New Delhi, Dec 7 (UNI) An inter-state 'Zeharkhurani' gang active in trains was busted and two persons, including the gang leader, and a doctor were arrested here, police said today.
A laptop, mobile phones, wrist watches, gold ornaments, digital cameras, a CM pistol and knife were recovered from the possession of the two arrested criminals.
On a tip-off that the two would arrive in Lajpat Nagar in the capital to meet their aides, the sleuths of the Crime Branch arrested them from the area.
The gang, led by Manoj Kumar Gupta (27), was involved in 15 cases of drugging rail passengers. The other arrested person was identified as Ajay Mishra (32). Both the arrested belonged to Loni in Uttar Pradesh, the police said.
On the basis of their disclosure, Dr Promod Kumar Mehto from Holambi Kalan in the capital was also arrested for providing drugs to the two to facilitate their criminal intentions.
The two criminals used to offer tea or biscuits laced with drugs to innocent passengers and subsequently decamp with their valuables, the police added.
