Indian powerlifters add four more gold in Commonwealth event

New Delhi, Dec 7 (UNI) Indian men won seven medals, including four gold, on the second day to swell the country's medal haul to 15 in the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championship in Christchurch in New Zealand today.

PC Bidika and Girish bagged gold in the Masters 56kg and 75kg weight categories with lifts of 375kg and 270kg respectively while Prashant Patil in sub-junior 125kg weight category and Gaurav Sharma in juniors +125 kg walked away with the yellow metal by lifting 497.5kg and 580kg respectively.

Dr G Rao lifted 270kg to pocket a silver in the Masters 90kg weight category while Molay Mandal and Nitin Sharma claimed a bronze each in the seniors 100kg and juniors 82.5kg with total lifts of 405kg and 572kg respectively, a release of Indian Powerlifting Federation said.

Yesterday, Indian eves had won eight medals, including five gold, on the first day of the competition which will conclude on December 9.
