Haryana Congress questions Bhajan's party

Chandigarh, Dec 7 (UNI) The Haryana Congress today questioned the formation of a new party by disgruntled party leader Bhajan Lal and supended MP Kuldeep Bishnoi even as they had not quit the Congress yet.

Talking to reporters here, state Congress president Phool Chand Mullana said a report regarding the announcement made by Mr Bishnoi to form a new party had been sent to the party high command which would take appropriate action.

Pointing out that Mr Bishnoi and Mr Lal were Congress MP and MLA, resp respectively Mr Mullana said none of them had so far resigned from the party. ''How could a person be a member of two political parties ?'' Mr Mullana said he had read in newspapers that a new party had been formed, but he did not get any written communication in this regard.

The statement made by Mr Bishnoi that he would resign from Lok Sabha after June 1 next, indicated that he was not ready to face byelections, he added.

Mr Bishnoi and Mr Lal had announced the formation of the Haryana Janhit Congress (BL) at a rally in Rohtak on December 2.
