Surat, Dec 7 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said the Government will take steps to neutralise the impact of exchange rate (appreciating Rupee) to protect the interests of exporters, including textiles exporters and manufacturers.

Talking to mediapersons after addressing a rally here, the Prime Minister said the government had already taken steps as it was aware of the problems faced by the textiles sector and had announced a package, to neutralise the impact of exchange rate.

Surat is a major textiles-producing and exporting city and the business community here has been demanding another package in the wake of the appreciating Rupee as the exporters were hit hard by the moving exchange rate.

Dr Singh said the Textiles and Commerce ministries were seized of the problems being faced by the exporters.
