Govt reviewing laws concering women: Renuka

New Delhi, Dec 7 (UNI) The Government is reviewing the laws concerning or impacting women including the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986, Immpral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, the Protection of Women Against Sexual Harassment at Workplace Bill, 2007 and Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

Minister of State for Women and Child Development Renuka Chowdhury, in a written reply, said crime and violence against children are being addressed by legislations like Indian Penal Code, Criminal procedure Code, Child Labour Act and Juvenile Justice Act.

These Acts are also being reviewed from time to time to make these more effective and stringent.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development was administratively concerned with Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act.

Recently Rules under JJ Act have been notified with the approval of the Ministry of Law, she informed.
