''Fake Desi Ghee'' manufacturer remanded in police custody

Ambala, Dec 7 (UNI) A local court today remanded a man to police custody for three days for allegedly running a factory of adulterated desi ghee here..

The Police had booked Sanjiv Jindal under section 420, 272, 273, 467, 468 and 471 IPC and arrested him following a raid during which it unearthed the fake desi ghee factory in the densely populated Kasera Bazar area.

The police raided the premises on the information provided by one Anil Kumar of Ambala City who was earlier arrested for running a similar factory here.

Anil had disclosed that he had got training from Sanjiv to prepare fake desi ghee. The Police had recovered quintals of ghee from Anil Kumar's factory.

Sanjiv was selling his fake product with the trademark of 'Zaika' and 'Milk Star' mostly marketed in parts of Uttar Pradesh. The Police recovered about 2 quintals of ghee being prepared and packed in tins, pouches and big containers.

During interrogation, the accused Sanjiv disclosed that he used to prepare desi ghee by mixing essences to vegetable ghee of different varieties. Besides, marketing for domestic consumption, he used to supply it for use at religious functions.
