New Delhi, Dec 7 (UNI) Disappointed over the adjournment of winter session of Parliament without taking up several urgent issues, mainly price rise and deepening agrarian crisis, the CPI(M) today blamed both the ruling coalition and the BJP for the "lapse" on this count.

CPI (M) floor leaders stated that burning issues like sky rocketing prices of essential commodites, 'virtual collapse' of the Public Distribution System and implementation of the Sachar Committee report, could not be discussed because of BJPs disruption of proceedings for two consecutive days and the government's "indifferent and callous" attitude.

At a press conference on the last day of the session, party leaders Sitaram Yechury and Basudev Acharya said this is the first time that no discussion took place on the 11th Plan document in the House when it was being finalised." I initiated the discussion about a year back, but no discussion has yet taken place." "The Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die despite the fact that price rise was listed for discussion today," said Mr Acharya, adding that other important issues should have been discussed including the increase in the Minimum Support Price for paddy and the Unorganised Workers Bill, which contains several faulty provisions.

The Left leaders, including Mohammad Salim and Rup Chand said the government ought to be engaged on these issues.
