Mumbai, Dec 7 (UNI) The creme of the country's top ladies golfers will descend on to the greens of the Bombay Presidency Golf Course, Chembur here to participate in the 58th Ladies Western India Open Amateur Golf Championship from December 11 to 14.
The tournament, being held under the aegis of the Indian Golf Union Ladies Section (IGULS) will see sixty of the top ladies golfers in action.
The tourney is being sponsored by WIGA and co-sponsored by BPCL, Kaysons, IFFCO-Tokio, Needs of Life Co-op Bank and GKB Lens, a release issued here today stated.
Among the leading golfers on view will be Shweta Galande (Delhi), Shruti Naik (Delhi), Mehar Atwal (Delhi), Sharmila Nicolet (Bangalore) and Mani Chander (Chandigarh), to name a few, the release stated, adding that the Mumbai challenge will be led by Meeta Gowande, Preet Sodhi and Sonia Malhotra.
The players will be divided into three categories according to their handicap, the gold division for golfers with the handicap of 0-12, the silver division 13-24 and the bronze division 25-36.
In order to make the BPGC course more challenging for the ladies, the yardage on the first nine holes has been increased by 155 yards, divided over the 3rd, 5th and 7th holes, the release added.
