Mumbai, Dec 7 (UNI) Alleging that several bogus voters were included in the city's voters for the next elections, Maharashtra BJP spokesman Madhav Bhandari today demanded that all such names should be deleted and a stay be put on the entire process of revision of list.
Talking to reporters, Mr Bhandari said the Election Commission had taken up a programme of revising voters list from August to October this year during which it was noticed that the number of voters had increased to around 10 per cent of the voters in several constituencies.
Mr Bhandari claimed that as per the statistics, the names of nearly one lakh voters had to be deleted per year due to death or migration from the city. However, the figure was found to be increasing this year, he said.
He said the Chief Electoral office in the state had already been informed about the matter.
