Bihar govt hopeful of finding petroleum and gas

Patna, Dec 7 (UNI) The Bihar government is hopeful of finding gas and petroleum reserves in various parts of the state by the private companies to trace the presence of the precious natural resources under the ground.

Bihar Energy Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav told newspersons here today that there were high probabilities for finding the gas and petroleum in the state specially in the northern region.

He said Cairn India was studying the economic viability of the traces of petroleum and gas reserves in the places like Samastipur, Darbhanga and Madhubani. ONGC was engaged in such studies in Saharsa and Purnia region, he added.

Mr Yadav further expressed his views that if the petroleum and the gas found in the state were financially viable it would boost the state's economy and the state would attain the age of prosperity.
