Action against 95 officials for dereliction of duty

Lucknow, Dec 7 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today directed action against 95 officials for dereliction of duty in several development schemes.

The CM was reviewing development works besides law and order situation in Lucknow, Faizabad, Allahabad and Devipatan divisions.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the pace of development works, Ms Mayawati underlined ''the officers need to conduct spot verification...development works cannot be reviewed by sitting in air-conditioned rooms.'' Stressing on the pace and quality of development schemes, the BSP supremo warned the officials to either pull up their socks and dispose of public grievances honestly or be ready to face the music.

During the review meeting, the CM ordered action against 95 officials of Basic Shiksha, Rural Development, PWD, Rural Engineering Services, Panchayati Raj, Energy, Revenue, Medical Health and Family Welfare, Irrigation, Cooperative and Social Welfare Departments for laxity in several development schemes.
