Two held for killing wild bear in Poonch
Jammu, Dec 6 (UNI) Two people were arrested for killing a wild bear in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources today said.
Sources said the villagers shot dead the wild bear yesterday afternoon when it was found moving freely near village Hari in tehsil Surankot of Poonch district.
''Due to heavy snowfall on the upper reaches, bear came down the mountains and found moving in the populated area'', sources told UNI, adding that the villagers took out rifle and shot dead the wild beast.
However, on receiving information, forest officials, along with Range Officer, assisted by the police reached the village and seized the dead bear and also arrested two persons in this connection.
A case was registered under the Wild Life Act against them, sources said.
