Three held with country-made revolver in Vadodara

Vadodara, Dec 6 (UNI) The City Crime Branch sleuths have arrested three youths here and seized from them a country-made revolver and one 8 mm cartridge.

Acting on a tip-off, the sleuths arrested the trio in the sensitive Junigadi locality, under jurisdiction of Panigate police station, yesterday. Besides the firearm, they also seized two mobile phones and Rs 1,500 in cash from their possession.

Preliminary interrogation of the accused -- Kanu Paswan, Yogesh alias Kalu Pasi and Sandip alias Dr Chandrakant Satpal -- revealed that Paswan and Pasi were natives of Rai Bareli and Allahabad respectively, and had settled in the city.

The police suspect that the firearm was smuggled into the city by Paswan and Pasi from Uttar Pradesh. The duo were nabbed while they were selling it to Sandip for Rs 1,500. ''A search is being carried out in the houses of all the three accused,'' Detection of crime Branch (DCB) Inspector Kaushik Pandhya said.
