Mumbai, Dec 6 (UNI) Raza Academy, All India Sunni Jamaitulama, Sunni Tablighi Jammat and several other Muslim oragnisations today organised a mass programme of saying Azaan at four prominent Mosques in the city to observe the 15th anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition.
The Azaan was also called in the memory of those who were killed in the post-demolition communal riots.
The Azaan was called at 1545 hrs sharp, and was followed by a prayer meeting, attended by a large number of scholars and children.
Noted Islamic scholar Maulana Mansoor Ali Khan offered a special prayer and demanded that a new mosque be built at the same site where the Babri Masjid stood.
He also said that the legal battle of rebuilding the mosque will continue till the community did not get it back.
The Muslim orgnisations also submitted a memorandum to Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna demanding the rebuilding of the mosque. In the memorandum, they also demanded that controversial author Taslima Nasreen be deported from the country and a CBI probe should be conducted in the recent blast at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah.
