Skeletal remains from five graves in Khejuri sent to CFL
Khejuri/Kolkata, Dec 6 (UNI) Skeletal remains from the five graves, unearthed yesterday at Bamunchowk in Khejuri, were today sent to the Central Forensic Laboratory in Hyderabad.
East Midnapore district SP S S Panda informed that the identity of the five victims and the manner in which they died could only be determined after a proper DNA and forensic test.
Meanwhile, IGP (Law and Order) Raj Kanojia said in Kolkata that a DNA test might be conducted if needed.
Contai Judicial Magistrate J P Singh was present at the digging site, where the charred remains had been unearthed by CRPF personnel at Bamunchowk.
''Meanwhile, Khejuri police station has been asked to begin an investigation into the matter,'' Mr Panda said.
CBI Joint Director Arun Kumar, who was present at the digging site today, said the investigating agency wants to see whether there was any connection between these bodies and the March 14 carnage in Nandigram, where several local people had been reportedly missing.
Besides skeletal remains, burnt pieces of wood, charcoal and ashes were also recovered from the site.
