Hyderabad, Dec 6 (UNI) As part of the stringent security measures to prevent violent incidents on the occasion of 15th anniversary of the demolition of Babri Masjid today, 'Shadow police teams,' in mufti were deployed in the sensitive Old city to follow the movements of 'anti-social elements.' Speaking to UNI here, Charminar Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Reddanna said the 'shadow teams' were equipped with two-wheelers and mobile phone cameras to record the movements of suspected people. They were deployed at every street of the old city to follow suspected people and inform the police officials about their activities for the day.
Stating that small cameras were also given to the 'shadow teams' to shoot any untoward incident, he said 21 small surveillance cameras were set up at all strategic places in the city, which were directly connected to the computer networks of the City Police Commissioner's office. The officials in the office would monitor the law and order situation live.
Mr Reddanna said more than 5,000 police personnel, including four platoons of para-military forces, were deployed in the old city.
So far, no untoward incident was reported. All business and other activities were normal. Some shops and educational insitutions were closed in protest against the Babri Masjid demolition on December 6, 1992.
