RSS leader Uttamchand Israni cremated

Bhopal, Dec 6 (UNI) The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's former kshetra sanghchalak, Akhil Bharatiya Adhivakta Parishad Chairman and social activist Uttamchand Israni was cremated at the Chhola Vishramghat today.

On behalf of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Madhya Pradesh Urban Administration Minister Narottam Mishra laid a wreath on the mortal remains of the departed leader.

Among those present at the funeral were Assembly Speaker Ishwardas Rohani, Commercial Tax Minister Babulal Gaur, RSS Sah Sarkaryavah Madandas Devi and Suresh Soni. Mr Soni read out a message from RSS Sarsanghchalak K S Sudarshan and Sarkaryavah Mohan Bhagwat.

Mr Israni (80) passed away yesterday at a local private hospital where he was admitted following cardiac arrest at Jabalpur. He is survived by his wife, son and three daughters.

Mr Israni, who migrated from Sindh after Partition, became associated with the RSS at a young age. He served as the Sangh's Bhopal vibhag karyavah, prant karyavah and prant sanghchalak. About a year back, he requested to be freed of the kshetra sanghchalak's responsibility owing to health reasons.

He was jailed for 19 months during the Emergency.
