Chandigarh, Dec 6 (UNI) Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Union Territory Administrator, General (Retd.) S F Rodrigues, today called for retrieving the correspondence of Le Corbusier, the architect of the city, with different quarters for use by researchers and students of art and architecture.
He was addressing a function after inaugurating an impressive Exhibition titled '' From Marseilles to Chandigarh'' of creative works comprising collection of models, drawings, photographs and original sketches of the world famous French architect at the Panjab University here.
He asked officers of the Chandigarh Administration, architects and academicians to retrieve the letters and correspondence by the founder architect to different quarters and to micro-film the entire record for use.
Gen Rodrigues said there was a need for conducting research-based study to throw light on the original concept and vision conceived by Le Corbusier for planning the city.
This endeavour must also focus on various aspects as to how Le Corbusier conceptualized the planning of the city and how he proceeded with his visualized dreams to make Chandigarh a symbol of the past and a hope for the future, he added.
