Political leaders seized land in MP

Chhatarpur, MP, Dec 6 (UNI) A police case has been registered against a principal political party's local leaders, comprising a district secretary and some other office-bearers, for allegedly seizing more than two acres of a trader family's land, police said.

Late on November 20, the armed accused seized Mr Deependra Asati's family plot beside Sagar Road. Shops were broken open, goods flung outside and a wall damaged. Traders agitated in protest.

The case was registered against District Secretary Digvijay Tripathy, Ishanagar Board Treasurer Tarendra Singh and others.

Madhya Pradesh Handicraft and Handloom Development Corporation Chairman and MLA Kapoorchand Ghuwara and Bharatiya Janata Party District President Umesh Shukla intervened to return the plot to Mr Asati on December 2 in the presence of the tahsildar and police.
