Naxal couple arrested

Thiruvallur, Dec 6 (UNI) Two Naxals, husband and wife, were today arrested from a house in the Minjur police station area of this district here.

Police said Madhavi, alias Mari, alias Kavitha (29) and Ramaniah alias Sagar alias Pradeep (37), who were arrested early morning, lived together in a rented house owned by one Lakshmi of the area.

According to the Andhra Pradesh police, they were members of the Nallamala Forest Naxalite Group 'Santhosh' in the Prakasam District, and were wanted in a bomb blast case in the Warangal district in 2006.

The arrested were produced before the Ponneri Judicial Magistrate later in the afternoon.

Thiruvallur Police Superintendent Senthamarai Kannan said security arrangements in the districts near the Andhra Pradesh border would be tightened.

Four Naxalites of the Andhra Pradesh Maoist group were nabbed in Chennai yesterday.
