Manipur bandh on Dec 8
Imphal, Dec 6: The Thadou Students' Association (TSA), the Kuki Women Union (KWU), Manipur and the JAC for Protection of Meitei Langol Patta Land an Residential Area has called a 24-hour general strike from midnight of December 7 to midnight of December 8 to protest the construction of National Information Technology (NIT) at the Langol areas.
The residents demanded that the institute should not be constructed by evicting patta holders.
Meanwhile, to protest the ban on entry of three-wheelers and four-wheelers in the Imphal market area, transport operators have announced a 48-hour statewide chakka bandh on December 7 and 8.
The Passenger Transport Joint Action Committee, Imphal Bazar Area president K Bedeshwor, said police had banned entry of vehicles into the market areas after a bomb blast at Paona bazaar on November 17 last.
The ban on entry of vehicles cause hardship to the people, he said.
