Haryana raises aid to SC/BC students for competitive exams

Yamunanagar, Dec 6 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced to increase by more than double the financial assistance to candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes to prepare for various competitive and entrance examinations.

The assistance for SC and BC students has been raised from Rs 3,000 to Rs 8,000 for competitive exams and from Rs 4,000 to Rs 10,000 for entrance exams, Mr Hooda said while addressing a gathering on the occasion of Mahaparinirvan Diwas of Baba Sahib Bhim Rao Ambedkar at Bilaspur in Yamunanagar district.

He also announced that Bilaspur would be given the status of a sub division.

The Chief Minister also announced to appoint Urdu teachers in those schools where the number of students desirous of learning Urdu would be more than ten.

He said Haryana Scheduled Castes and Finance Development Corporation would provide financial assistance of Rs 87.65 crore to 17,000 beneficiaries during the current financial year so as to enable them take up their own income generating activities.

Similarly, Haryana Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections Kalyan Nigam would provide financial assistance of Rs 47.50 crore to 7250 beneficiaries during this financial year.
