Sydney, Dec 6 (UNI) Women who complain of ''man drought'' will do well to take an interest in cricket as an event organiser is planning to unite the thrills of speed dating with the craze of Twenty20.
The first ever Twenty20 Singles Party will take place on January 10 in a bar inside Sydney's Telstra Stadium while WA's Western Warriors take on NSW's Speed Blitz Blues.
''There's a huge man drought at the moment,'' speed dating company Fast Impressions spokeswoman Rebecca Attenborough was quoted as saying by the Australian Associated Press.
''We've had a vast number of female members on our database calling up and asking where are all the decent men hiding?'' ''Twenty20 cricket has taken the world by storm ... so we decided to get on board and host an event where we knew it would be popular with a lot of young guys.
And while organisers say it would help if the fairer sex have at least a small interest in cricket.
''It does help to have a little bit of interest in the sport, but for the ladies out there if they want to come along and meet some nice young gentlemen then this is the ideal opportunity for them to do so.'' Up to a thousand singles are expected to attend the event co-hosted by Fast Impressions, dating company Get Hitched and NSW Cricket.
Half the tickets have already been sold for the event, which promises live DJs, dating games, prizes and celebrity guests.
Ms Attenborough says the key to finding a man is going to the places they like to hang out.
''Australian men are very passionate about their sport,'' she said.
''We're going to put the (singles) all together and let them enjoy something that Australians love doing, which is being outdoors, enjoying sport, being in the sun and having a fantastic party.'' UNI
