Clash at Ambedkar statue
Tiruchirapalli, Dec 6 (UNI) Tension prevailed for a while in front of the Ambedkar statue, when a section of party workers of Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) clashed here today.
According to eye witnesses, a group of the Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam cadres led by President Rajendran allegedly abused the party workers of BJP when they came out after garlanding the Ambedkar statue, commemorating his death anniversary. This led to a clash between the two groups.
Since there were only two policemen in that area, they were helpless.
Cantonment police had registered a counter case from both parties and were investigating.
