Khejuri, Dec 6: The skeletal remains from the five graves, unearthed here yesterday at Bamunchowk, were today sent to the Central Forensic Laboratory in Hyderabad to determine their identity.

East Midnapore district SP S S Panda have informed that the identity of the dead persons and the way in which they died can only be determined after a proper DNA and forensic test.

The bodies were today numbered and put into boxes to be sent to the laboratory.

Contai Judicial Magistrate J P Singh was present at the digging site, where the charred skeletal remains had been unearthed by CRPF personnel here.

'' Meanwhile, Khejuri police station has been asked to begin investigation into the matter,'' Mr Panda said.

CBI Joint Director Arun Kumar, who was present at the digging site today, said the investigating agency wants to see whether there was any connection between these bodies and the March 14 carnage in Nandigram, where many local people had been reportedly missing.

Besides skeletal remains, burnt pieces of wood, charcoal and ashes were also recovered from the site.

Yesterday some had claimed that the bodies belonged to CPI(M) activists, who died in bomb explosion on night of October 27 in Sherkhanchowk.
