Chandigarh, Dec 6 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal will honour state players who had won medals in Doha Asian Games and Asian cup Hockey held in Chennai, at Bathinda on Saturday next.
According to Punjab Sports Director Pargat Singh, besides felicitating the medal winners, the Chief Minister will also lay the foundation stone of the state of the art cricket stadium in Bathinda.
The Punjab players who brought laurels to the country and the state by winning medals in the Doha Asiad are: Manjit Kaur (400m silver and 4x400m gold), Mandeep Kaur (4x400m gold), Manpreet Singh (kabaddi gold), Manavjit Singhn Sandhu (trap and team trap silvers), Mansher Singh (team trap silver), Harveen Sarao (10m air pistol silver), Ranjan Sodhi (double team trap silver), Avneet Kaur Sidhu (10m air rifle team bronze), Palwinder Singh Cheema (wrestling 120kg bronze) and Gaganjit Singh Bhullar (golf team silver).
In the Asian cup Hockey, six for Punjab were members of the victorious Indian team. They are Prabhjot Singh, Sardar Singh, Gurbaz Singh, Baljit Singh, Jaswinder Singh and Rajpal Singh.
