Rajkot, Dec 5 (UNI) Union Textiles Minister Shankarsinh Vaghela today alleged that there has been corruption to the tune of Rs 19,000 crore while purchasing power from private players by the Gujarat government.
Mr Vaghela's remarks come in the wake of the High Court's observation that an additional burden of Rs 19,000 crore has been imposed on Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB) due to an agreement with Adani Power. Jindal Power and Power Trading Corporation had challenged the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam's cancellation of the letters of intent that had been awarded to them for entering into power purchase agreement.
speaking to newsmen here, Mr Vaghela alleged that Gujarat Energy Development Corporation had awarded Adani Power's bid arbitrarily.
Mr Vaghela claimed that the Congress will secure a majority in the Gujarat Assembly elections. He claimed the people want a change in the state. He said dissidence within the BJP will impact the Assembly elections.
