Tripura gets Rs 15.01 crore for flood management

Agartala, Dec 5 (UNI) The Ministry of Water Resources has sanctioned Rs 15.01 Crore for Tripura under Calamity Relief Fund (CRF) and National Contingency Calamity Fund (NCCF) during 2007-08.

According to National Disaster Management committee report, except Mizoram all other states of the region had got the financial assistance with the proposal of the respective states and the ministry would formulate a National Policy on Flood Control soon.

The ministry has approved the proposal of financial assistance of Rs 1467.43 Core, which would provide technical support through studies and maintaining a network of flood forecasting stations, the state flood management officials said here adding that the assistance for flood management works in critical reaches including bank erosion activities in Tripura.
