Steel Plant: Chhattisgarh HC stays action
Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Dec 5 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh High Court has stayed action against a man who secured employment in the Bhilai Steel Plant by allegedly furnishing a fake Scheduled Tribe (ST) certificate.
While hearing Mr Rameshchandra's plea yesterday, Justice Satish Agnihotri also ordered issuing of notices to the state government; the collector, Durg and the factory.
''After the job was obtained under ST quota, the collector ordered the tahsildar to inquire into the ST status on the basis of a complaint. The probe revealed that Mr Rameshchandra belonged to the Backward Classes. The collector recommended to the factory that action be taken. However, the petitioner's side of the matter went unheard,'' submitted Petitioner's Counsel L C Das.
The lawyer claimed that his client obtained the certificate from a competent authority.
