New Delhi, Dec 4 (UNI) The Government will give more relief to exporters in textiles, leather, marine products and handicrafts sectors to arrest job losses that could be as high as two million, Commerce Minister Kamal Nath informed the Lok Sabha today.
''While there is an overall growth in exports, the rate of growth has declined. However, in certain sectors like textiles, leather, marine products and handicrafts there is a net decline in exports which has led to job losses,'' Mr Kamal Nath said during Question Hour.
He said the estimated job losses could be as high as two million.
The Government, he said, had already taken certain measures to provide relief to the exporters to meet the adverse situation arising out of rupee appreciation.
''A proposal for further relief to arrest loss of jobs is under the consideration of the Government,'' he added.
