Nashik, Dec 5 (UNI) The week-long ''Nashik festival 2007'', celebrating the silver jubilee of the existence of Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC), concluded here today.
The festival was inaugurated at the hands of President Pratibha Patil on November 28, who was felicitated with a citation written on a silver sheet. Mrs Patil also released a souvenir depicting the 25-years journey of the NMC.
The festival was an entertainment treat for the Nashikites with performances by Laughter Challenge champion Sunil Pal, Bollywood stars -- Esha Deol, Hema Malini who presented a ''RadhaKrishna'' ballet and singer Shreya Ghosal singing marathi ''Lavanis''.
A Marathi Flavour was added to the festival with ''Lavani''dances and a marathi play ''Khandobacha Lageen'' by the local artist.
Today, the last day of the festival saw ''Jashn-E-Quawali'' presented by artists from New Delhi. On the occasion, Mayor Vinayak Pande thanked Nashikites for their enthusiastic response and assured to organise the festival next year also.
NMC Commissioner Vilas Thakar, Standing Committee Chairman Sharad Kashire, Deputy Mayor Ajay Boraste and NMC officials had taken hard efforts for the success of the event, a brainchild of Mayor Mr Pande.
