Madurai, Dec 5 (UNI) Marumalarchi DMK (MDMK) General Secretary Vaiko today said his party will shortly launch a state-level agitation to condemn the 'inefficient' DMK Government for frequent power cuts and other issues.
Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Vaiko said Tamil Nadu was witnessing unprecedented power cuts severely affecting farmers, trade, industry, students and the common man.
Industries were facing closure due to the power crisis which might lead to unemployment.
Charging the state government with failure to take preventive steps to avert the power crisis, the MDMK leader said the DMK Government was losing credibility because of its 'anti-people and anti-labour' stance.
He urged the government to take note of the problems and rectify the situation. Mr Vakio also demanded Rs 1,000 per quintal of paddy as MSP for the farmers.
To a query, he said the date for the state-level agitation would be announced by the party in a couple of days.
He termed as 'unnecessary' the opposition by CPI (M) Leader N Varadarajan to naming the Madurai Airport after Muthuramalinga Thevar.
