K'taka wins AGT Award for e-Governance
Bangalore, Dec 5: Karnataka Government's ambitious e-Governance project 'Nemmadi', which was being implemented to deliver various G2C and B2C services for the citizens of rural Karnataka has won the Asia's premier Government Technology Award.
Talking to newspersons here today, M N Vidyashankar, Secretary Department of IT, BT and Science and Technology, said 'Nemmadi' intended to bridge the digital divide and deliver various pro-people programmes adopted by the State Government.
He said the 'Nemmadi', a rural delivery e-Governance product, was adjudged the best among as many as 212 projects from 14 different countries at the Government Technology Award presentation ceremony held at Phuket, in Thailand recently.
Mr Vidyashankar said Government Technology Award was instituted by Public Sector Technology and Management Magazine based in Singapore under the category of 'Digital Inclusion'.
He said 'BangaloreOne', another project of the Karnataka Government's e-Governance department, had bagged the 'Certificate of Merit' under the Microsoft e-Governance award in the Microsoft Government Leadership Summit-2007 held in New Delhi, recently.
