New Delhi, Dec 5 (UNI) Team India's newly appointed coach Gary Kirsten interact with the players during the third test against Pakistan which begins in Bangalore from December 8.
The BCCI has informed in a release that Kirsten will be spending a couple of days with the Indian team at Bangalore during the third Test match.
Although Kirsten is officially due to take charge from March 1 next year, the BCCI yesterday said that he would join the 'Men in Blue' during their Australia tour as a consultant.
''Gary (Kirsten) has been appointed as the coach of the Indian team for a period of two years starting from 1st March, 2008,'' the BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah said in a release.
''However, he will be with the Indian team in Australia as a consultant for a couple of weeks probably after the second Test,'' the release added.
Interestingly, last evening BCCI chief Sharad Pawar said that Kirsten wants to take up the job and has requested for certain facilities for his family in the contract which he mailed to BCCI.
But later in the night, it was formally announced that Kirsten will take over as India's next coach. His appointment has ended all speculations about the coach's status for the Indian team.
