Five new judges of Punjab and Haryana High Court take oath

Chandigarh, Dec 5 (UNI) Five new judges were inducted in the Punjab and Haryana High Court here today.

High Court Chief Justice Vijender Jain administered them oath of office at a simple ceremony held here.

The function was attended among others by judges and dignatories from the Governments of Punjab and Haryana and Chandigarh Union Territory Administration.

Those who took oath were Mr K S Ahluwalia, Mr R K Jain, Mr Rakesh Kumar Garg, Ms. Daya Chaudhary and Haryana's Additional Advocvate General Jaswant Singh.

All of them were senior members of the High Court Bar Association.

Ms Daya Chaudhary is the first lady lawyer to be elevated to the bench.

With their swearing-in, the strength of judges went upto 42 against the sanctioned strength of 53.
