Panchkula , Dec 5 (UNI) Twenty-six- year old left handed Pakistan opener delighted the crowd when he slammed five sixes and four well-executed seven fours as Chris Cairns-led Chandigarh Lions handed over a six-wicket drubbing to Hyderabad Heroes, skippered by former Pakistan captain Inzamam ul Haq in the seventh match of the 4 million dollars Prize Money Indian Cricket League Twenty20 Championship at the floodlight Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex here tonight.
Farhat remained not out on 74 and became the highest scorer in an innings.
Facing a target of 135 runs set by Hyderabad Heroes, Chandigarh Lions completed the task in 16.2 overs by scoring 137 for 4. They finished the match in a majestic way as Chetan Sharma sent Nicky Boje over the cover boundary for a huge six. It was Chandigarh Lions' second triumph from three matches they have played so far in the six-team round robin league. Hyderabad Heroes have only one win to their credit from three outings.
The turning point in the match was early dismissal of Hyderabad Heroes captain Inzamam ul Haq (8) who was caught by Amit Uniyal of the bowling of spinner Dinesh Mongia. The former Indian opener Mongia who missed earlier two fixtures returned to the team after recovering from thumb injury he had suffered before the ICL. Imran Farat was declared the 100 per cent Man of the Match.
Chandigarh Lions suffered an early blow as Abdul Razzak, who turned 29 on December 2, dislodged opener Marshall's bails with scoreboard reading five. Then Farat and Tejinder Paul Singh (19) took the total to 44 with an association of 39 runs for the second wicket before Tejinder was caught and bowled Syed Shahbuddin (1 for 17). Manish Sharma (15) and Chris Cairns (8) were also dismissed.
However,Chandigarh Lions were in an unassailable position.
