Chandigarh, Dec 5 (UNI) Rohtak MP Deepender Singh Hooda has sought intervention of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in granting permission to set up a Greenfield Airport-cum-Cargo Air Complex within the National Capital region (NCR) region falling in Haryana.

In a letter addressed to Dr Manmohan Singh, Mr Hooda said that in Haryana Government's proposal, permission had been sought for construction of a brand new airport catering to lower cost passenger services, air cargo, private operators, helicopter services and aircraft maintenance services at a site covering an area of 4347 acres in Jhajjar district.

This site was located in villages of Mandothi, Jakhoda, Rohad, Saidpur and Tanda Heri in tehsil Bahadurgarh near the intersection of National Highway No 10 and the Kundli Manesar Palwal (KMP) Expressway.

He said that financing based on a Built Own and Operate (BOO) model had been proposed in the proposal of the Haryana Government and no direct budgetary allocations had been sought from the Central government.

Mr Deepender Singh Hooda also urged the Prime Minister to guide the Ministry of Civil Aviation to expedite Haryana's proposal and conduct an immediate review of 150 KM clause of the Airport Infrastructure Policy of 1997.
