Mumbai, Dec 5 (UNI) IT major NIIT today organised an interactive session of BT Group CEO Ben Verwaayen with students across nine cities, as part of the 'NIIT Imperia Leadership Series'.
The live address of Mr Verwaayen on 'Opportunities and challenges for talented Indians in today's global workforce', was enabled by NIIT Imperia's innovative 'Synchronous Learning' technology. It provided an opportunity to attendees in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi and Pune to interact with the global leader.
Later, speaking to reporters here, Mr Verwaayen said ''India is a country not just of a billion people but a billion plus opportunities. Talent is fast becoming the key differentiator for global business. Companies that harness and nurture this vast natural resource will gain a critical competitive advantage. Talent has no passport and no gender. That is clearly recognised at NIIT, where talent and technology are being combined to create world class professionals.'' The unique Synchronous Learning technology, which uses two-way audio-video interaction system and special software that fully replicates face-to-face teaching, connects remote classrooms, live with faculty, from country's leading B-schools such as the Indian Institutes of Management at Ahmedabad, Calcutta and Indore and Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad. NIIT Imperia uses this technology for its Executive Education and Management Development programmes.
Early this year, World Chess champion and NIIT Brand Ambassador, Viswanathan Anand utilised the same teaching capabilities of this technology to play chess and conduct lively tutorials for chess enthusiasts, simultaneously across six cities.
