AITUC volunteers court arrest in UT
Puducherry, Dec 5 (UNI) About 1,000 volunteers of AITUC, including two CPI legislators courted arrest after they blocked roads at 16 places, including Karaikal region to press their 16-point charter of demands today.
They were demanding, among other things, curbing price rise, generation of new emplolyment opportunities and strengthening of the Public Distribution System here.
In an another agitation, volunteers of CITU staged a demonstration in front of the old RTO office demanding the transfer of Labour Compromising Officer and reinstatement of 56 employees of a private industry here, who were terminated.
