2 Lashker and as many soldiers among 6 killed in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 5 (UNI) Two Army personnel and as many Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were killed and a CRPF and a police constable injured in the night-long fierce gun battle in south Kashmir.

Elsewhere in the valley two peole were killed overnight.

A CRPF spokesman said troops of 130 battalion and state police launched a joint operation at Ladermud village Awanitpora, about 30 km from here in south Kashmir district of Pulwama last evening following a tip-off about the presence of militants there.

He said when the security forces were about to storm a particular house, militants opened fire in which a police constable Mohammad Imran Lone was injured, he said.

Reinforcement was immediately rushed to the area from different camps and troops of 55 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) also joined the operation.

The spokesman said operation against the militants, who were holed up in a house continued throughout the night.

Both the militants, belonging to LeT were killed, the spokeman aded.

Two Army personnel also lost their lives and one CRPF man injured. Official sources said militants shot dead one Muzaffar Ahmad Ganie at Chanderhama while an unidentified decomposed male body of a non-Muslim aged around 30 years was recovered by Police from river Jhelum near Abdullah Bridge here.
